Shandon Baptist Church

Although I no longer attend Shandon Baptist, full disclosure, I grew up here. My parents are still active members and have been there for 40 years. I take my family to the Singing Christmas Tree every year and continue to feel the same level of love and hospitality as I did growing up there. There's truly something for everyone here. Singles of all ages, couples from all walks and stages of life, people who are new to church and those who have grown up attending. Youth and college groups, young professionals everyone truly has a special place to belong. I also appreciate the fact that they have plenty of assistance and even special care for people with all levels of disabilities. The children's ministry is particularly wonderful here and one that I am currently a bit more familiar with. My children love attending when they spend weekends with their grandparents. They are never bored and classes are age appropriate. The music ministry is phenomenal here. Some of the most talented musicians in the midlands are a part of the music program. They have both traditional and contemporary styles of worship, do no matter what you prefer, there is a service you can feel comfortable worshipping in. The people here are some of the most wonderful and caring people that I have ever known. If you're looking for a new church home, I'd definitely encourage you to visit Shandon with your family. Loving others where they are and developing their personal relationship with Christ is central to the mission of this church. Be sure to check-in at a visitor's welcome area so that you can more easily find classes and information instead of feeling overwhelmed by the size. Yes, it's big. But I can assure you that it is just a big big family, and there will always be room for you and others.

The service was nice. They gave a free gift which was cool. However, the follow up was a bit much. They keep sending me letters and post cards wanting us to come back, called my phone a few times and then showed up at my house unannounced. The showing up at my house was what pushed me over. I will not go back here and hope they leave me alone.

The moment I entered the church I was greeted with a welcome and a smile. I told the greeter that I was a visitor and He stopped what he was doing and brought me down a long hall directly to the "Welcome Center" The staff operating this center were so very friendly, provided me with information on the Church, the Pastor, and the many Sunday school options that were available to my age group. After they gave me a few recommendations on classes, She took the time to walk me directly to a fantastic Sunday school class, introduced me to the teacher and then to the class president. I felt so "Welcome!" The class was bible based, He did not water down any of the biblical topics and truly cared about my salvation. Following the Sunday school class, they asked if I wanted to sit with them in the Church service. If this was a business, I would rate them with Fantastic Customer Service. Since the purpose of the Church is to bring sinners together to proclaim, Jesus Christ, I would say that their staff, congregation and my entire experience was truly Christ like in that not only their words but their actions were examples of how Christ would want HIS church to be glorified. Pastor Dick Lincoln is a awesome preacher that can be seen all over the church encouraging and greeting visitors and members before and after each service. If you are looking for a God centered, Bible preaching church that will challenge you to become a better person, a better follower of Christ or just searching for a teaching environment, you will call Shandon home.

Shandon is a great church. It is big, but when you break it down to the different ministries you get a smaller church feel. Shandon has something for everyone, from babies to us older folks. Shandon is "Living sent", which means we are very much involved in missions and even starting a church plant in Philadelphia. Come let us make you feel welcome.
